ARIA READY: The Business of Singing was written for singers entering the wonderful world of opera. As a teacher, I realized that most of my own students didn't understand that singing is a business. It requires business skills, but, more importantly, personal skills, because all business is about creating and maintaining relationships. I also realized that there was no book out there for singers that went beyond telling them what to do. So I wrote a practical, how-to, step-by-step guide to building a solid foundation for a long-term singing career. The information in my book comes from my own 35 years of experience as an opera singer, teacher, and Certified Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) Trainer, which in its most basic form is learning to model excellence. In other words, it's taking things we all do every day all day in an unconscious manner and simply bringing them to consciousness, doing them on purpose. I have been studying NLP for many years.
I have worked with many wonderful performers, conductors, coaches, and stage directors during my career, all of whom have given me such a wonderful education. I feel one of the most important things each of us can do in life is to pass on what we have learned. It's my time to give back and I hope you will do the same as you learn what to do and how to do it.
